It’s funny because when I moved 35 min away to downtown they never messaged me, like ever to come over. Maybe once a month and not even. Now that I’ve moved closer (not because I want to be close but our house is in the school district I grew up in which is very good and I wanted to be in that district). Now they for some reason think I should want to come over and see them every night

lmao this right here!!! Every interaction with them feels like a chore, or something you just don't want to do because there's no real connection. Their presence becomes irritating because "what do you want!?!?"💀 lol you end up treating them how they treated you. Like a burden. But they do become a burden tho fr. Expect so much from you yet gives you nothing consistently.

It hurts hearing people say "oh thats your parents you have to love them!" I dont hate them but i wasnt raised, every bit of self progress i made was by myself. SEVERE mental battles and no support or love ever offered, just neglect. I crave a role model so bad im crying over it, i just want an older person i can look up to and ask for advice. Emotional neglect makes you feel so alone and abandoned, it takes away so much of being a kid and i cant get this missing care or time back. Im a shell of a person :(

My immigrant Mom valued school more than anything - everything in my life is stressed and most important only if it contributed academic excellence. After that, you need a good job and I have that now too. I realised being one year postgrad now that we have literally nothing to talk about. I know a lot about her, but she doesn’t know shit about me and it’s so obvious. I went to school I have a job and to her there are no other important parts of my personhood
