#creatorsearchinsights Last year, we discovered the beach at Bluff Point State Park in Groton- and I had done my research to know there was a beach called Bushy Point Beach - but apparently, we did not walk far enough to reach it last time - and boy........what a difference it makes when you do! So let's start from the beginning - Bluff Point State Park is an 800 acre peninsula that is 1 mile long - it was originally intended to be a private development (like much of our beautiful shoreline) but the state bought it to preserve it. It is a gorgeous spot for hikes, walks, bikes, ride you horse here - and of course watersports, birding and fishing. Park your car in the parking lot - and it is a 1 mile walk to the beach, which will be on the right hand side almost all the way to the end of the peninsula. There is a porta potty on the left at the entrance - As you enter the beach - that is Bluff Point Beach. It is a horseshoe shaped beach - and honestly full of rocks. Near the water is the hard sand - but also loaded with rocks. The rocks last for quite a bit - this is where we were last year when I did the post. However, this year - it was a beautiful day (also unlike last year) and we were there all day - so we decided to walk - all the way to the end of the beach - a mile! As we walked - the rocks subsided and were replaced with a hard sandy shore - with patches of absolutely soft sand away from the water. As we neared the island, we could see the sand bar!!! We walked faster to try and make it - but only were able to see people coming off the island - so we are packing a lunch and going back! The parking lot had at least 50 cars - but there was a handful of couples on the beach - We were so perplexed! We had stopped by Rocky Neck State Beach - and it was mobbed! So - here I am again - to tell you about this stunning place! Be prepared- the walk to the beach is 1 mile - the walk to the end of the beach is 1 mile - then you gotta walk back. #grotonct #ct #connecticut #thingstodoinct #thingstodoinconnecticut #ctbeaches #beachvibes #cthikes #travel #traveltok
