💃🏻 The new girl in town 💃🏻 Jean Paul Gaultier Scandal Intense is a new fragrance for women launched in 2025. This spicy, floral blend opens with the rich nuances of ylang-ylang, followed by an intense heart of sweet vanilla. The composition settles on a base of spicy cardamom, adding a powerful dimension to the fragrance. I was curious about this scent since I first saw the photos because I love a purple bottle and also love Velvet Orchid, which its aesthetic definitely reminds of. Scent wise though... Actually, it does have a similar vibe. If VO is the confident, fun, rich aunt, Scandal Intense would be the slightly insecure young niece who is overcompensating by being loud and obnoxious just for the sake of it. But she's also fun, full of energy and deep down she dreams about being just like her aunty when she grows up. The marketing photos are actually quite accurate in capturing the overall vibe, excepting the models are too well dressed. Irl I see someone who is still experimenting and trying to find their personal style wearing this. The (heady) ylang is clearly there, vanilla as well, cardamom only a touch. Quite strong, definitely loud (not in the best way imo- yes, even for this line), pretty good performance. The bottle has nothing to do with the scent, but I guess there are so many flankers by now, they're running out of colours. If anything, a borderline electric purple would have been more accurate. Otherwise, I would have called it Scandal Party and put it in a bright yellow/orange bottle. Or an iridescent one.
