We need more people in the humanities because it’s so clear that a lot of people on the internet don’t understand why people are ever interested in bringing up issues that they don’t personally care about or they haven’t been affected by or are being said by someone they don’t like. They can’t look inside themselves to unpack the most surface level biases but still feel entitled to say their piece

There's a genuine lack of seeking out information. As a teacher, these younger generations take things at face value and call it "stupid" bc they don't have the motivation to actually seek the information or themselves. It's learned helplessness & expecting everyone else to explain or tell them what side to pick.

I also don’t understand how a person’s confusion about a topic or person leads them to spreading hate about it,,, personally when I’m confused about some viral topic online if I don’t care enough to learn about it, I don’t engage with the topic. I scroll past videos without liking, hell, press the uninterested button so I don’t see anymore, if I’m not interested enough to learn about the topic being discussed I’m not gonna say shit about it, and yet, a vast majority of internet users aren’t finding topics they don’t care to do research on, and then arguing negative things about it like genuinely WHY??? I don’t get it just don’t fucking interact if your not interested in learning 😭 either learn or scroll away why is this something we don’t do anymore
