@unpainted.stories: On August 6, 1945, U.S. Army Air Forces pilot Paul Tibbets took off aboard the B-29 bomber Enola Gay. Their mission was unlike any previous bombing mission. The aircraft carried “Little Boy,” the first atomic bomb ever used in warfare. The target was Hiroshima, Japan. At approximately 8:15 a.m. local time, the bomb was released over the city. Seconds later, a massive explosion devastated Hiroshima. Tens of thousands of people were killed immediately, while many more died in the following months and years from severe injuries and radiation-related effects. Decades later, Tibbets reflected on the mission, describing the preparation, the flight, and the moment the weapon was released. His recollections provide a firsthand perspective from the cockpit of one of the most consequential—and controversial—missions of the 20th century. Three days later, another atomic bomb was dropped on Nagasaki. Japan announced its surrender on August 15, 1945, bringing World War II to an end. The events of August 1945 remain deeply debated and remembered because of their enormous human consequences. History isn't only about what happened—it is also about understanding the consequences. #Hiroshima ##tiktokgrowthchallenge #History #document #WorldWar2

I don't care which side you choose to defend both were evil both still are evil our government shouldn't have targeted civilian populated areas and japan shouldn't have done the unit 731 experiments there are no good guys in this story just the ones who won and the ones who lost and history is dictated by the ones who win the war plain and simple. nobody is perfect and everyone does horrible things because we are human and humans are broken beings

The Japanese goverment refused to surrender. A full invasion of the Japanese mainland wouldve resulted in millions of deaths, American and Japanese. America dropped pamphlets the week before the bombing, warning the civilians to evacuate. The Japanese government refused to evacuate its citizens and take the threat seriously.
