Depth: Seismological agencies, including the USGS and EMSC, measured the quake at a relatively deep intermediate level (roughly 66 to 71 miles / 107 to 115 kilometers deep), which allowed the energy to travel vast distances. Widespread Reach: Strong tremors were felt far from the epicenter. Residents in the capital city of Bogotá, as well as across Antioquia, Cundinamarca, and Meta, rushed out into the streets as homes and office buildings evacuated.
