I feel like everytime these types of arguments are made they just devalue and underappreciate existing diverse chars. Illari, sojourn, lw, bap, lucio and the list goes on. many of these chars have deep cultural elements embedded in their designs too like illaris gun.

Sierra was the only reason I started liking OW and started playing it, she’s so much fun and I absolutely love seeing such a cute and bubbly character that looks like me…..Just for her to get dogged on and dragged into the mud bc of a skillshot that provides auto aim IF you manage to hit ur shot. It was also disappointing to see that she’s the only African American hero added onto the game since launch, I myself am black Canadian like Soj, but I couldn’t relate to her on the same level as Sierra. It’s disappointing that Blizzard is so focused on adding only East Asian characters, I’d love to see more representation not just for myself and others like me, but for the rest of the world. You can’t have a game so full of diversity and opportunity and just….Not represent those people. It’s just bad development.

I said this on stream the other week if they did a year for each continent or region that would be so cool like 10 heroes next year based on African culture and regions, I think my issue isn’t that there’s a lot of Asian characters it’s that I loved Overwatch 1 because all the characters felt unique and identifiable and now it’s like we are stuck in Europe and Asia and occasionally the americas, maybe a character to be released on black history month would be nice as well, also one thing people tend to forget is that people of different ethnicities and backgrounds have always existed on every continent in some shape and form and I would love to see that represented for example a someone of Persian decent from Peru idk I love seeing a vibrant cast of people and rn it’s looking rather unbalanced

I want an African, Central American, South American, and a Mediterranean character. Places like cote d’viore(I think I spelled it right), le Sotho, or something in the west and or south for Africa. Places like Costa Rica or Jamaica, even Panama, for Central America. Places like Greece or Montenegro; etc for the Mediterranean. I also would like characters from places like Morocco or some of the Arabic countries. And I wish pharrah would get more love and attention for her native side, since she’s the only character with Native American BLOOD not birth place or any of the culture, just heritage. And even then, only some skins for her represent that.
