No. You do not have a phone in your cell regardless of fed or state. In feds, there's usually a room with a desk with wooden panels and a phone. in state,it's in open, sometimes there's a screen to do monitored video calls but that's it. Some jails have tablets that allow you to call from them but that's it.

Depends on the prison and wing.. some have phones in their cell, others have a communal section for phones, like what you see in dramas like time

All prisons have landlines in cells believe it was introduced during Covid & just kept. Calls are monitored tho & you have to pay for credit far from social treatment

Yup, it’s a thing but they monitor the conversations. Inmates are only allowed so many numbers on their PIN and the other person has to give permission to be added.

Most prisons have in-cell phones, and prisoners can call pre agreed numbers. Not sure a serving police officer in the same force and office of the IO would be one of them though 😀

depends on the prison, my dad was working in one and they put the phones on the cell as the prisoners kept breaking the phones so if they break them in their room they can't call anymore

Having served over 5 years I can confirm some prisons now do have phones in the cell as they save arguments with on landing phones , queuing for them and during lockdown you can still speak to your family as long as got credit some jails still only have landing phones unfortunately also more modern prisons now you have your own shower too it is good and bad as they can lock you up longer if they wish due to basic needs met
