@colmisato: I AM SO OLD 😭😭😭 The boy who appeared in YouTube’s most-viewed video of all time is stepping into a new spotlight as a K-pop singer. Park Geonroung, now 17 and known as “Baby Shark Boy,” will release his first digital single, “WAVE,” on August 20, according to The Pinkfong Company. The Korean-language song features Monsta X’s Joohoney, with Park Geonroung also participating in writing the lyrics. Park Geonroung first appeared in the iconic “Baby Shark Dance” video in 2016 as a child. The video has since surpassed 17.2 billion views, making it the most-viewed video in YouTube history, and has remained at the platform’s global No. 1 spot for 69 consecutive months. He returned to the spotlight last year through short-form videos celebrating the song’s 10th anniversary, which collectively attracted around 22 million views. Reflecting on his debut, Park Geonroung said he wanted to move beyond being remembered simply as the boy from “Baby Shark” and instead share his own voice and story. The Pinkfong Company emphasized that the project is about introducing Park Geonroung as an artist in his own right rather than simply reviving the childhood character. However, the company clarified that “WAVE” is a one-off project for now, with future activities to be decided after its release.
