I had each of our parents create their own family seating charts. We did the main table and included grandparents, parents, and our mom’s brothers. We did our friends and wedding party. We had a few cousins sit at the wedding party tables. It worked out very well and parents got what they wanted.

I feel like it can be but doesn’t have to be. Like if there’s no real questions you want to ask your parents then why would you ask them?? If people can’t sit somewhere for 2 hours and be happy about it then it’s really on them - who cares where you sit/who you are sitting with ??? The couple should take the time to consider where they are putting people and try to make it as nice for the guests as possible but I don’t see why the parents need to be involved.

when my sister got married I was the only family member that was not seated anywhere near the family it was done intentionally to piss me off I didn't care I didn't want to be at the wedding anyway I was made to attend and as soon as dinner was over I packed me in my family up because I didn't want to be there I say that to say this the seating chart is up to the wedding couple that being said my sister purposely kept me away from the rest of the family as an insult to me mind you she got married on my birthday and was upset cuz I didn't want to be there on my birthday but I don't think it's up to anyone else I did not complain about the fact that I was seated out in the middle of 10 but to Egypt instead of with the family I just acted accordingly

I requested not to sit with my daughter father and gf. I was sat with them anyway. My daughter and I had a conversation as to why, I didn’t really care. I ate my dinner and went and sat with my friends. 🤷🏻♀️

where I'm from, the couple sit with their parents in a long table facings the guests. it would be groom's dad, mum, Groom next Bride, bride's mum and dad.
