TW- needles! 🪡 I looveeeee piercing belly buttons! Navel piercings are actually quite a complex place to pierce, and require a thorough understanding of anatomy. They not only vary drastically person to person, but also change completely when a person is standing, sitting, and lying. If pierced incorrectly (which we see more often than not) they will likely reject or embed, and a person can end up with a very large amount of scarring, which often doesn’t go away, and can hinder the ability to pierce properly later. So if you ever come to me for a belly piercing, be prepared for a big thorough consultation! I also like to always highlight that there is no “normal” or “traditional” belly button or piercing style. The only reason that one style of jewellery is more commonly used than the other is just because our industry is young and knowledge is new, and once upon a time we would just chuck the same style of jewellery in everyone and hope for the best 🙃 but we know better now. One of the many reasons to ensure your piercer is up to date with new learning and growing ✨ Quick fun fact- belly buttons are just a scar form an umbilical cord! This is the reason they are all different, it has nothing to do with your body shape queen 💅 Anyway, I’ll talk about that more in future content but for now, here is a video of me free handing a cute navel piercing!
