A swimming event planned specifically for the Black community in Berlin today was cancelled following racist hostility, threats and a heated public debate surrounding the event. The organisers cancelled it over security concerns, and the swimming pool was ultimately closed for the day. The event was intended to create a safe community space—not to permanently exclude anyone from the swimming pool. Regardless of whether people agree with community-specific events, racism, threats and intimidation should never be the answer. We can disagree with an idea without attacking the people involved.
