Knob Gobbler :
Hey so there’s a lot of variables. If they have a detailed profile with interests etc and you message them striking up conversation about those interests, and your profile is also filled out indicating you’re equally putting effort into matching with someone, it’s the mature thing to send a “thanks for the message, but not my type” reply. Acknowledging that the other party actually put some thought into their message. But if someone is messaging from a blank profile or a very-obviously-only-here-for-hookups type profile, then they are already exhibiting a cut-to-the-chase mentality, and a non-reply is simply matching their energy. And it’s okay to leave those guys on read. And similarly, if you message a guy that’s clearly just looking for fun, you have no reason to expect him to reply to messages from guys he’s not interested in. He’s there for one thing, you obviously see that, you shoot your shot, don’t get a reply, there you go. Simple. Remember, Grindr is NOT the same as walking up to a stranger and saying “hi”. Men on Grindr are sending “hey handsome” messages to dozens of guys in a row. It’s completely transactional. Those types of messages are not owed a response. It’s like saying you owe a telemarketer your attention, or you owe a LinkedIn recruiter bot your attention.
