Siblings can absolutely take advantage of the love we have for our nieces and nephews. It can feel like emotional blackmail, and I think it can be even more difficult when you don’t have children of your own. I hate being put in that position because you feel trapped between wanting to be respected and wanting to maintain that loving relationship with your niece or nephew. And yes, sometimes people do take advantage of that love. Good on OP for standing their ground. The sister could simply have been honest and said, “I need your help.” I’m sure the outcome would have been very different if she had approached it that way.

I have been in this situation worse sh3 had a childminder who we both used who called her out in her never getting my kids. worse she didn't apologise she made out like I owed her something till I cut her off and told her pick up her child herself. it was never about my neice it was the disrespect that struck me. my mother didn't help the situation either
