@dereckgoto: Zimbabwe’s heroes are not celebrated because history demands ceremony. We celebrate them because freedom demanded sacrifice. Rhodesia was not dismantled by goodwill. It was a system built on conquest, dispossession and racial inequality - and generations of Zimbabweans ultimately chose to resist it. Men and women left their families, abandoned ordinary lives, endured imprisonment, displacement, hunger and war. Many never returned home. Many never lived to see the flag raised in April 1980. That is why Heroes Day matters. Whatever debates Zimbabweans may have about the present, we must never become so consumed by today that we trivialise the price paid for our right to determine our own tomorrow. Zimbabwe was not handed to us. It was fought for. People died for it.#zimtiktokers🇿🇼🇿🇼🇿🇼
