I’ve been in Salem 4 years and I love it ! I come from a town with no actual good parks, no downtown at all, no cute bars, no greenery, no events etc. idk why people hate on Salem so much 😅

Fun fact between the two pedestrian bridges connecting Wallace riverfront and Minto brown we have a larger connected park than Central Park in NY

Moved here 6 years ago after living all over the East Coast. It's such a small town for a capital city, and you're right, everyone is always comparing it to Portland, but we've really enjoyed it. Lots of outdoorsy things to do, so many wineries, coffee shops, and other cool places I'm still finding out about. I did Bachata (Salsa) on a rooftop the other day. I learn about new things all the time. The political climate is interesting. Solid 50/50, but better than living in the Southeast!!!

Have you gone out for a day trip to the coast? Silver Falls state park? If you like wine, there are SO MANY gorgeous wineries all within 20 mins or so.

The river is low right now. It’s even more gorgeous in the spring when the river is high and the wildflowers are blooming along the river trail! Glad you’re enjoying your time here!

YES 👏🏼 I love living within walking distance of downtown. It doesn’t get enough recognition for being a pretty decent city. Yeah they are a few rough areas like anywhere else but there is for sure less.
