@bysarby_: links in bio check me out 😳 | My Ex Girlfriend has taken a new job 100 miles from home and is planning on commuting… AITAH for not changing my work arrangements to suit her #sarby
Also you can’t get reimbursed for driving to and from work, it’s for jobs that you have to drive your own car for all day like sales reps and things like that

But he is doing his part. She chose to get a job 100 miles away

During her custody time it’s her responsibility to make sure their daughter is dropped off and picked up on time same way it is his responsibility on his custody time. He made sure he was available and so should she. Any working parent has to make sure their job doesn’t interfere with their kids life.

She just got engaged……where is her man in all this? Cause she said the ONLY POSSIBLE person she has to help is her dad……huh? You have a whole ass fiancé??? Where is he???

They have 50-50 so when it’s his time, he’s responsible for pick up drop offs when it’s her time she’s responsible for pick up drop offs. She expects him to make accommodations that may not even be available to him. It is not his responsibility to make arrangements to cover care for the child during her time.

Nah she sprung a change without discussing it - OP said his job also make loads of accommodations already and so additional requests could lead for him to lose his job, therefore he'd potentially lose his home, not be able to provide to any of his children. NTA, her decision to travel commute so far is on her!

Why are you saying op has to put the kid first but not the mom?? Like she also didn’t consider that the kid needed picking up, and that falling back on op to do it is not fair on him.

Why are his takes so bad. She didn’t ask him. She just put that on him. He isn’t saying he’s going to neglect her. He’s contextualizing with the source of the problem in the post.

You're wrong . you made a lot of assumptions to call OP TAH. first, you assume that all three girls go to the same school, second, you assume that the mother doesn't have equal responsibilities to get her to school. she is a parent as well and she's chosen to do something that is incredibly inconvenient for everyone involved and she's dumping more of her parenting time on him and no doubt without compensation.

NTA and I don’t get how he’s so confused. Dad get the kid to school when he has custody. He’s being asked to get them there when he doesn’t and he’s saying he cant. His responsibility to get the kid to school is limited when it’s not his custody time. Also the redditor is sharing how the IRS allows businesses to calculate mileage reimbursement when people have to drive their own cars for work. It factors in things like fuel/depreciation/wear/insurance. Not a perfect formula but does given some sense of how expensive a 200 mile commute is

So, as far as the kids they could be in different school districts, one could be at elementary school. The others could be middle school high school they could be on the opposite as a town. His kids might take the bus you cannot expect an ex to rearrange their lives..

Nah as someone who commuted multiple years 2 hours per day to college, this is absolutely crazy to commute like that. It breaks your body down and gets SO expensive

so the kid is at least 8(if they broke up with baby), maybe older..where are OPs other 2 OLDER kids? where is exs new partner? OPs new partner?

I need more information on the custody situation. Sounds like they all need to figure it out for the sake of the kids.

This is such a stupid take. He’s doing nothing wrong here. He’s already accommodating his work schedule around the kid. Why does his family planning and having other kids have anything to do sigh what’s going on. It seems like he’s always blaming the man. Why’d she take a job 100 miles away. What sense does that make.

I had to go back and listen again, she took a job 100s of miles away and is computing TO THE NEW JOB. I thought she MOVED for the job and is commuting to get her daughter. op sounds like there was some info left out, like his other 2 girls. no I agree if it's 50/50 each are responsible for their time. if it isn't amicable thenni can agree to a staunch no budging on that, if it were then I'd assume OP would do whatever was in his powers to help if he is able. if his job doesn't allow this change then that's all there is to it. his boss has been accomadting thus far but how much longer will that train go? no I think Ex GF is just frustrated she thought this plan would work out and it isn't. it happens, but blaming it on OP and saying he's "clinging to the past" is a reach.
