Canada: regular means 1 cream 1 sugar. Double double is 2 cream 2 sugar. But I’ve never ordered it when traveling, I’m not risking my coffee coming out horrendous

You are correct regular = unadulterated coffee. In some instances it means drip coffee vs an espresso coffee, or regular vs. decaf, but if that's already been established, 'regular' absolutely means just plain black coffee. also, for the record, 'black' coffee does NOT mean 'drip' coffee. FOR THOSE WHO NEED TO KNOW 😑

Only in New England, at Dunkin Donuts, does "regular" mean "with cream and sugar". For all other coffee chains and all other places in the world, "regular" means "not decaf". Even people in New England (like me) should know this. 😳

Can we normalize NOT using the word “regular” when ordering stuff? 🤦♂️Because that implies that the employee should know what that customer’s regular order is. My regular is different than your regular. I’m also talking about “ordinary” as well. It’s just too confusing.

Fascinating. I'm from the Midwest and I've only heard people say "regular coffee" when they want caffeinated coffee as opposed to decaf. "Regular or decaf?" is usually step 1 of the coffee order, and "cream and sugar?" is step 2.

Region stops mattering the second time they say not to put anything in it. At that point nothing goes in it and it becomes straight up black coffee. Or they need to specify.
