I remember being 12 years old at a friend’s house. She and her sister and her mother all had very light fine blonde hair. It was quite strikingly beautiful. I remember her mother said she wanted her daughters to marry blonde men to preserve their genetics because if they didn’t, in a few generations there would be no true blondes anymore. I didn’t know what I was hearing at that age I guess. I think a lot differently about that dog whistle now.

Can you talk about the intersection between being Christian and the need to be persecuted? I have tried (ineloquently) to explain this to my family but I never do it justice. Being persecuted is intrinsically part of the white Christian identity. I hear these themes from my Lutheran minister step father all the time.

Racism, is still racism. I live in a part of Texas, I mostly see hispanic folks. I'm okay with that, cause they're just people and usually pretty lovely.

There’s a book called Ausländer by Paul Dowswell which is marketed as YA but it’s about a boy that was kidnapped and it’s a very good read to see what happened to some of those children
