I was misdiagnosed with a terminal illness given 3/5 years and a slow painful loss of function and dignity, had to sort arrangements for my children. It was horrific for a year and when they said they had got it wrong the relief of living in pain etc was immense. I really get where you’re coming from, I can’t speak much, eat am in constant pain but honestly the deep sadness and random panic that strikes you with terminal diagnosis is something else. Plus we do have options whereas they are just facing certain death and the support wasn’t any better for that year than it is now. Just a different perspective from someone who’s lucky to have lived both and still be here to speak of it.

Do you think awareness on social media helps or hinders? I have endo, pots, hypermobility, ADHD, reflex anoxic seizures and some stuff is shit but I never really considered myself hard done by and then social media started flooding me with content about people with similar experiences who feel so darkly about their conditions and I just wonder if we can sometimes make ourselves feel worse and more hopeless when we exist in these echo chambers? Obv there are good days and bad days but does over exposure possibly make us ruminate more?

I don’t think you’re ungrateful. A future where we can’t be who we want to be sucks, and it’s even worse to know it will probably get worse with age. Sending you some digital support hugs 🤗 you never know, things might get better somehow!
