we arrived at 9:30, only a 20 min wait. the best tip..don't go on a Monday.. everything else is closed so everyone goes to the great wall..its always much busier than usual.

or just get a Didi for 2.5h to Jinshanling, book a guesthouse right next to the entrance and have the Great wall all to yourself for sunset and sunrise

I went at 1pm and i went straight in as well. I think it’s mainly 9-10 am where it’s busy because of the tour guides
