With modern Physical media if it exceeds 100gb the entire thing usually will not fit on disc or cart. You can do quick Google searches to see if a disc or key cart is going to contain the entire game. sometimes they do sometimes they dont. Apparently PS5 oblivion base game wouldn't find on the disc so in that case it doesnt matter. switch 2 oblivion was shaved down and the entire base game does fit on the key cart. So key carts can still include the full game. it all depends

Nintendo sells you digital game keys on a card..... Xbox is promising to sell you a physical disc that also contains a game key, which implies that once that code is "scratched" nobody else will be able to use the disc... Playstation just says F U

I think it’s notable here that Nintendo game cards (since the DS) are just NAND flash, not really different in principle from a usb drive with a copy of the game. Since they’re piggybacking on a strong market in general storage, Ninty can count on flash chips continuing to be available for the foreseeable future, whereas discs and disc readers are looking more and more like a complex and specialized niche product

Nintendo built a miraculous empire on cartridges...betraying that is literal corporate suicide...and as one of the die-hards that helps carry them through their commercial mis-steps, I am confident they want to keep us around

All first party games are fully on the cartridge third parties independence because you have games like oblivion, remastered, and Indiana Jones were the only way to get it. Fully physical is the switch version then you have games like bravely default or Final Fantasy seven remake and rebirth being key cards.

as of now there are only two games that are pure key cards because Nintendo got so much kickback when that was originally announced they only did it for poktopia and something else I don't remember
