22 years old. ❤️⌚️🇿🇦 Today I bought myself a watch I once wouldn’t have even believed I’d be able to try on, never mind call mine. But this post isn’t about the watch. And it definitely isn’t about the price. It’s about what it represents to me. Every time I look down at my wrist, I don’t want to see a Rolex. I want to see the years of dreaming when none of this existed yet. The late nights. The risks. The failures nobody saw. The moments I questioned myself. The times things didn’t work, but I got up the next morning and tried again anyway. I want to remember the younger version of me who had these ridiculous dreams and absolutely no proof that any of them were going to come true. Just belief. And somehow, little by little, that life I used to imagine started becoming my reality. I’m 22 today, and I genuinely have more than I could have ever asked for. Not just material things, but freedom, experiences, the ability to look after the people I love, and most importantly, the opportunity to wake up every day and build a life on my own terms. And I need anyone watching this to understand something: I am no better than you. I am not more special than you. I wasn’t chosen for some extraordinary life. I didn’t have some secret that everybody else missed. I was just crazy enough to believe that my life could be different, and stubborn enough to keep going until it was. That’s why this watch means so much more to me than what it costs. It’s a reminder that your current circumstances are not your final destination. Your life can change so much faster than you think. A few years of completely backing yourself, making sacrifices most people won’t understand, failing, learning, getting back up and refusing to settle can take you places you once thought were reserved for other people. I know there’s someone watching this right now who has that same feeling I had. That feeling that you’re meant for more. Please don’t ignore it. You don’t need to be special. You don’t need to have everything figured out. You just need to start, and then refuse to stop every time life gives you a reason to. So yeah… I bought myself a beautiful watch for my 22nd birthday. But hopefully, 50 years from now, when the cars have changed, the numbers don’t matter anymore and life looks completely different, I can put this same watch on my wrist and remember exactly who I was at 22. Hungry. Grateful. Obsessed with becoming better. And still only getting started. Happy birthday to me. ❤️ 22 years down. A lifetime to go.
