i live in NZ and my son was wearing some light up shoes once, and this American couple was telling me that kids are advised against wearing light up shoes in america because it can give your position away. thinking about that made me soo sad and thinking I would never want to send my child too school If I lived there.

It is so hard for us New Zealanders to comprehend what kind of anxiety Americans go through simply shopping for kids shoes and supplies it is inconceivable those thoughts of a shooting would ever enter my head space I feel for you guys

My husband took my 4year old to pick out new tennis shoes for the playground at TK. She was SO excited to show me them when she got home and when I saw they were light up shoes my heart DROPPED.

My sister in law and 3 month old were at Haywood mall in June when a shooting happened. My brothers a deputy and ran in to find them but it was scarring for all of them.
