omg i have been speaking in tongues for year. but sometimes I don't try to speak in front of people, because it doesn't sound like everyone's own, like my tongue is so different from what I hear from people, it's not like I rehearse I just open my mouth and speak, but at times I doubt how am I sure my brain is not making this up how am I sure it's from the holy spirit

I quote you, “ they began to speak and the spirit gave them utterance” that simply means they were talking to God in there own language untill the Holy spirit manifested himself that was evident through speaking in a different tongues. Not that they were speak in a different tongue before the spirit manifests ✌️

every Christian step is by faith, you can't speak in tongues and doubt it's tongues. you do it out of faith and the holy spirit lifts it, if it's not right it's the holy spirit that changes it and present it

There's a difference between speaking in tongues and praying in tongues. Speaking in tongues is a gift from the spirit, not for everyone. Praying in tongues is meant for everyone....and also controlled by the believer. You speak, you stop at will. You open your mouth and the spirit fills it. You close it, the spirit doesn't.
