In the Quran, the "People of the Sabbath" were a community tested by Allah with a unique prohibition on fishing on Saturdays. While fish were scarce during the week, they appeared in massive, numbers on the Sabbath. To bypass the law, the villagers used a loophole by setting traps on Friday and collecting the trapped fish on Sunday. The community split between those who committed the sin, those who stayed silent, and those who actively preached against it. Because of their deceitful transgression, Allah spared the righteous and punished the wrongdoers by transforming them into disgraced apes.
