Attorney here: the primary reason they want to remove telephones from students is because they are worried about the evidence that students will develop regarding terrible teachers and staff. While the stated goal is important, you should not lose sight of the real goal.

Not only is this taking away our kids rights to have access to 911 for violent things, what about if a teacher or student is harming them or making them uncomfortable? My kid will always have a way to contact me period.

My nephews school did this three years ago(his last 2 years in HS) and he said it helped so much. That students were engaged again which he had never seen b4. Also, he said the teacher didn't have to go over stuff constantly cause kids messing around.
