that cop was a real one. he didn't arrest the guy because he was trying to screw with him, he arrested the guy to stop the guy from putting himself in a worse situation. they ended up laughing and joking, and he probably saved that guy from making a really bad decision in the heat of the moment

I genuinely think the cop arrested him to stop him from doing something stupid. humans do baffling things when we're hurt and angry, I do genuinely hope this man heals from such a devastating betrayal. the cop saved his life, and the fact the cop was even talking to himself and laughed with him shows he was trying to help this man from spiralling to a dark place.
