@cbsnewyork: Dramatic video shows the moment a tractor-trailer struck an overpass on the New York State Thruway in South Nyack, overturned and slid across the roadway Monday. State police say the truck also struck a vehicle on the shoulder, sending one person to the hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. #newyork #nyack #aaa

Fun fact for all of you, statistics say that 50% of all truck drivers on the roads today have less than 6-8 months experience. This was absolutely preventable and rollovers have an extremely high fatality rate. Even if he did walk away from this the likelihood that he was put in prison a long while is high.

It doesn’t even matter what roadway he’s on, a container on a regular flatbed is WAY too tall.. whoever loaded that container onto that trailer AND the driver are 100% combined at fault for that one.

The shift in quality of driver’s has been very noticeable the last few years. They became more reckless and aggressive. Most noticeably after Covid.

For all the geniuses in the comment section: (yes I have a class A CDL). 1) This was a thruway not a parkway, as noted. 2) This was NOT a low bridge (any bridge that does not have a yellow height sign mounted is at least 14’ high by federal law). 3) Trucks drive this route every day (this was literally a truck dash cam..look at the perspective. And look at the other trucks going by). 4) A standard flatbed has a 5’ deck - putting a shipping container on it makes you an oversized load (over height). So this was 100% the driver’s fault for not being aware of his load height. But with that said I genuinely hope he wasn’t seriously injured even though he did f*ck up big time.

As a professional CDL A driver I'm sickened by the complaints in comment section. My first thought is the well being of the driver. While unfortunate, nobody deserves to be injured, PERIOD.

Only in NY do the cars behind him hurry up and get passed this disaster before they’re stuck in traffic. Not one will stop and make sure the driver is ok. One might yell out while passing “just shake it off! You a-ight” but that’s about it 😂

low overpasses should have laser height sensors with digital boards to warn trailers in advance.

Man, I sure hate it when overpasses decide to lower themselves without telling anyone.

Hey everyone!!!! These comments need to stop shitting on NYers for driving by!!!! You might not know the road, but it is the damn thruway and folks are driving at least 60. And they were probably scared shit, like WTF! Also, I do see one car pull over on the left. Blue car. Anyhow, be nicer folks. Holy Hannah

the back of the truck was too high and he didn't pay attention to the height of the bridge before he went under it

Normally a highcube container in a regular chassy is right at 13’6” on a flatbed i’m sure it’s atleast a foot taller 🤷🏾‍♂️🫢🫢🫢

That’s because he had a shipping container on a flatbed. That’s not good. You need a drop deck trailer for that

Why the hell do we still build bridges or don’t replace bridges that are under 13’6”? We all know that they have the money , from tolls , speeding infractions !!! Are we really that dumb as a society to fix the problem? Blame truckers ? Yes obviously!! But come on we can get rid of human stupidity just by fixing the damn problem !! And guess what ? It won’t happen again !! 🥺🥺🥺😎😎
