I hope in 50 years the hunger games saga gets to be studied in school. the importance of these books is too much to not be recognised worldwide level

The fact this scene didn’t even exist in the book. The directors knew what they were doing and actually understood the hunger games

Suzanne did a fantastic job of making a vile character whos entire purpose is to squander the hope of the most innocent to keep them down and weak. And this man did an even BETTER job at showing that lvl of cruelty that comes with a character like that. Its his words that are truly terrifying. I saw someone say that they were scared at how it got to that point but when you look at the system, its only running well by the 74th. Like Katniss said “it must be a pretty weak system if it can be taken down by a couple of berries”. They were more than just berries, it was the hope that you can still defy the capital, even in the time where the grip is fully in control, and still be a victor.

I love that snow built a system so “perfect” it couldn’t exist without him. He got the capitol believing the propaganda to the point they wouldn’t be able to effectively carry out controling the districts.

I genuinely love how it’s also a generational difference. Seneca and the other young capitolites didn’t mind the two winners because it’s good tv for them and had the games gone on for more years they would have allowed other concessions. Snow on the other hand knew why the games where created by highbottom and why Gaul kept them etc etc.

This ideology also reminds me of how the system in *The Handmaid's Tale* works. We see time and again that even under a completely dzhumanizing rzgime, women—and some men—hold onto the hope of something better and fight for it, even at the cost of their lives.

And too much hope is what destroyed Snow in the end. We need to remember that for the current system we live under.
