If you are planning to keep your car for a long time, buy a manual. Manual are more durable. They are also basic meaning they are cheaper to maintain unlike the complex automatic transmission. Resale potential of manuals is higher than automatic. A second hand automatic that is on sale is a red flag, it could be sold because it has become problematic.
