Batman year one works as the definitive origin story it’s like Batman year one is a slightly branch timeline. It’s like Batman year one is the origin story for mainline Batman and dark Knight Batman, it’s like timeline one mainline Batman goes on to team up with the justice league form his bat family and go through other adventures. Where is timeline two Batman goes onto retire after the death of Jason Todd and comes back 10 years later we superheroes are not allowed so it’s like both Batman have the same definitive origin story Batman year one but they are slightly branch timelines

Year one is technically canon for both Prime earth (since it was the post crisis origin for Batman and has been referenced in many post crisis mainline earth-0 stories) and also canon for Earth 686 (the Frank Miller universe)
