It’s so weird to me how people think if you don’t come unglued about a problem, you don’t care. This happens in relationships too. Some of us naturally go straight to engaging our brain gears without needing to stress out and panic first.

Either you want a sense of urgency and actual help or you want me panicking, You don't get both. but yeah, we're pretty numb to most things anymore. while it might be your first time calling in that call, it's probably our hundredth time taking that type of call.

If you have an emotional reaction to most calls, you’d be left wrecked, quickly burnt out and with ptsd. Some calls are triggering no matter what, but I’m just trying to do my job, it’s not my emergency.

If I’m panicking, I’m not thinking clearly enough to get you the proper help that you need. Could you imagine the chaos in the call centers if dispatchers started responding by matching your energy? Especially the calls where the callers are screaming at you, you’d have a screaming match back and forth with the caller. That would be wild!
