as a neurodivergent person,, this would be extremely stressful when I was younger lol. I personally prefer (for my self and others) to set more of a deadline. like,, please have your room be clean by the end of the day. or more suggestive like 'the dishwasher is empty, do you have any dishes in your room?'. I used to have piles of dishes sometimes cause of executive dysfunction and depression and rephrasing it like that made it a lot easier.

What if they don’t clean it? I will tell my daughter the specific expectation I’m looking for (clothes and trash off floor for example) and there will be trash in a corner or along the wall. She will still argue and yell saying she did it.

Whenever my mom tells me to clean my room,within 2 days after I clean it, she makes it a mess again, and I have the smallest room in the house 😞
