@anna..papalia: 3 things you can do today to get a new job and no I am not going to tell you to update your resume or go on LinkedIn. I hate LinkedIn. LinkedIn is a scam, predatory to job seekers and gaslighting all of you. Step 1️⃣The most important first step in finding a new job is to figure out what you where you want to end up. 🪄If you had a magic wand and could create your dream job at the perfect company, what would that look like? 📝Write it down. Get really clear on what it is you want. Step 2️⃣ Let’s say you want to work at a small to mid-sized non-profit that works with children 20-30 miles from your house. 🧑🏽‍💻Now all you need to do is Google that “non-profit near me” and create a list. Step 3️⃣ Now that you have a list of 16 companies where you want to work, go on their websites and do some research. ▪️Do you like their mission and values? ▪️Can you see yourself working there? ▪️Do you know anyone that works there or has worked there? ▪️Can you ask them to refer you into the company? ▪️Look at the jobs that they have listed. Do you like what you see? If so, apply online but do not stop there, email the recruiter & include the link to the job posting that you applied to and ask for a job interview. 👋🏻Find the names of people who work there and figure out their email addresses and email them directly. (DO NOT EMAIL PEOPLE ON LINKEDIN) 👨🏻‍💼The best people to email are decision makers, think Executive Vice Presidents, Directors of HR or Talent, Department heads (people who are in charge of hiring) ❌Don’t waste your time emailing entry level people they don’t make decisions. ⚡️Or you could make a one-page website or a portfolio and send it to them. 🔥You could solve one of their problems and make a post about it on social media and tag the company and key decision makers. ❌You do NOT have to wait for a company to post a job you like. ❌You do NOT have to look through job postings on LinkedIn all day. 👉🏼Instead, figure out what you want, what companies offer those jobs and go after it👈🏼 Good luck🍀 @Vanessa Van Edwards let’s see if this armpit trick works. #jobsearch #unemployed #job #newjob #learnontiktok
