HEAVY ON AT LEAST RECRUITING NEW FANS!!! genuinely cannot count the amount of people i’ve managed to rope into listening to at least a little of the magnus archives. i introduced all my friends, and they introduced their friends, and now there’s entire groups of people i meet who say they got into TMA because of someone I introduced to it. if you can’t be creative, at least find people who will be!!!

See I don’t write fanfics (often), I I can’t draw, but I love cosplaying, or making jewelry based off the media like I think it’s so fun and I’ve even done a few tutorials. And it really is that easy like if I don’t like something I scroll and the things I do like I engage with and create stuff for it

Me and all my friends co-wrote a fanfic in 9th grade. We had a 5-subject notebook that we passed around between periods, picking up where the last one left off. It was a beautiful, creative, collaborative project.

As one of the FEW people who wasn't creating anything yo contribute to random, you can be samn sure I was putting in work by reading fics, watching con panels on yt, reading fan theories and reposting them on tumblr. I was talking to EVERYONE who would listen about my fandom. I wasn't creating, but I was sure as hell breaking my back to make sure the creatives knew someone out here loved their shit.

SO many times lately I'm seeing people whose sole "contribution" to fandom is drama and pitchforking. Like, not giving art, fics, cosplay, barely conversation, just nothing out. But their "contribution" is just doing witch-hunts, saying other users they hate, and then demanding certain art/fics be made of their own personal headcanons?? How do they keep getting so popular in fandom? I don't understand it!! 😩

I think it’s important to say that it’s not a generational thing. I think algorithms had made people so used to having everything tailor made for their personal experience, they’ve kind of forgotten that not everything is for them.

It's because fandom is treated as content instead of as a community. Back in the day, even the people who didn't write fics or draw fanart were still contributing to the community. Replying to posts, joining discussions, commenting on fic and art, sharing theories... being a part of a fandom was to be part of a social group. These days, too many people just passively consume.

dude omg i have been feeling this so bad lately!! when people complain about their ship not being as popular i wanna rip my hair out. trying to guilt trip people into making content for you is never gonna work!! my current fav ship is so small it's like me, my friend and maybe 4-5 other people so i be cooking for myself lol and yet these people out here saying their ship is dead when they get multiple new fics and fanart a day 😬 they forget that people are doing this for the love of the game, this is a hobby and a labour of love.

and the non-makers used to be so so so supportive!! they were betas, running the writing challenges, in every single chapter leaving comments, cheerleading every vagueblog, in the old LJ comment fic days they were huge prompters. now they are consumers only and they are real Karens about it

No, say it louder. I hate it. I want to be in creative spaces. But I feel like fandom has become a group of hate watchers who spend their time complaining. Its not debate or sharing ideas - no we're just going to dunk on it and thats the only way we are interacting with these pices of art. Its fucking depressing. I just want to enjoy things even if rhey are silly or dramatic or have a few small plot holes.
