So I keep seeing posts about hyper mobility and EDS on social media and apparently this is one of the signs. I do have other hyper mobility signs like my knees can bend backwards, I can do party tricks with my joints and I can fold myself up like a pretzel. I always thought this was a superpower but I’ve been told over time this is a problem and can lead to arthritis, muscle pain and extreme fatigue. I always thought I was clumsy and just constantly walked into things and I bruise easily so I’m always sporting a couple and I get dizzy easily. So I check a few boxes. I don’t know if I have it but I did look up the treatment options. And the first piece of advice? GET STRONGER! When the muscles that wrap around your cute little loose joints get thicker and stronger, they provide stability and anchors. Work on your health, nutrition, sleep and stress levels. Also things I constantly work on. So now I’m a little less worried. I started doing strength training because I used to get persistent back and shoulder pain and now I think this may have been the cause. My vague diagnosis of ‘you just have loose joints’ makes sense because the proposed treatment is working for me 😄 If you’re suffering from similar constant aches and pains, consider getting advice from a physiotherapist, an exercise physiologist and a personal trainer and take charge of your health! We can’t fix everything but working on your physical health and strength has a massive flow on effect on everything else 💪🏽 #eds #hypermobility #muscle #bone #health
