Being in a sorority actually made my college experience and opened up a lot of doors for me I wouldn’t have had otherwise. Do you have to pay? Yes. Dues not only go to your membership but get divided up into scholarships and assist with some philanthropic efforts. Also, dues are different depending on what school you’re at, at some smaller schools, your dues may be a lot less than if you attend a larger institution. Fraternities and sororities aren’t for everyone and that’s okay. A chapter that might be right fit for someone may not be a good fit for someone else. We all have different wants and needs for our college experiences and how you want to spend your time and money is totally your own prerogative. But it’s kind of silly to take organizations that can do meaningful things for students and the community and slim it down to the fact you have to pay to be a part of them. Most career-centered professional organizations also require dues to be a member too 🤷🏼♀️

Going Panhellenic was the best decision of my life!!! I’ve gotten to help so many people and raise money for a philanthropy that I’m super passionate about!! Met my best friends in my sorority, and ended up in the perfect place for me! It’s not for everyone, and that’s okay!! But why are so many people hating on sorority life…? These sororities have literally changed entire trajectories of philanthropic ability! Even silly things like making tiktoks can bring attention to a really good cause!

i tried to join a sorority and the only girls they rejected were me (the only not skinny girl) and the only PoC at recruitment. honestly it sucked because i was really passionate about the philanthropy and have all sorts of experience with fundraising and event planning :(

I swore my freshman year that I would never join a sorority (I wouldn’t pay for my friends). I ended up joining my sophomore year and it was the best decision and still have so many friends from my sorority ❤️
