@drjacob_: Why? When I squeeze the wrist from both sides, I’m creating compression through the small joints of the wrist and slightly changing how the carpal bones move against each other. This can help the joints move a little better and distribute the pressure through the wrist instead of putting all the stress in one spot. The popping you sometimes feel is a joint cavitation, but the pop itself isn’t necessarily what makes it feel better. The pressure and movement are also stimulating the nerves around the joint, which can temporarily decrease pain and improve how the wrist feels when you load it. So basically, I’m not really “putting the wrist back in place.” I’m giving the joints some compression and movement that can temporarily make the wrist feel and move better. And if this helps your wrist, especially before push ups, you’re definitely not the only one. I’ve had thousands of people tell me this little technique helped them.
