Everyone making jokes but Lyney is part of the fatui, and the entire aspect of Nod Krai was the Fatui TAKING Nod Krai and ruling it, Sandrone even says something along the lines of just because it doesn’t have a ruler doesn’t mean it can’t have one now 🤷♀️

It’s been hinted at since Sumeru, the false sky? It’s only really relevant in Nod Krai and maybe a bit to do with leaving Teyvat but I feel like the build up of the false sky has always been for Nod Krai

Nod Krai was clearly meant to happen ever since Sumeru if not even at the start of the game.. just look at the Sumeru archon quest or characters like Kaveh and Layla… I hate people who say it was never meant to be a thing

maybe nodkrai was already in the plan but it wasnt a major place in early genshin then they decided to create it to tie the loose ends in the storyline in preparation for snezhnaya and khaenriah
