I am so proud of you for preparing so extensively. Sleep deprivation is a massive trigger for psychosis, and I’m so grateful your village showed up so beautifully for you.

This is a very good story… you knew you had a village and utilized it to your benefit. Not reckless at all

Congrats. I'm so glad you posted this because I think this type of story will encourage women to not be scared about speaking up and think about how to prepare for the 'in case'.

Our communities have become so individualized that we dont have a village anymore. Pregnancy and birth are life altering and some of us need more help then others. I hope all that’s going on raises awareness so we can help each other.

This is the magic of having proper support and preparation for post partum! If you have a history of bipolar or psychosis personally or in your family your chance of post partum psychosis is so much higher, we can screen and get those people specialist care and a safe gameplan (including prioritizing sleep over everything). And if we have better screening for mania and the things that lead to psychosis we can really reduce harm!

Thanks for sharing. I got horrific postpartum psychosis with my first and so I was hyper aware with my second, and even with major complications I did not have to endure psychosis. A lot of the time it can be prevented with the right care and awareness. Waaay more common than we like to think but also way more preventable than we tend to accept

You had a good team around you! I am so happy for you and that your postpartum plan was successful. I see moms go on to have babies successfully after psychosis frequently. You just need a good team around you! ❤️

I really think that if we were all well educated on this issue women would be able to make a well informed decision and prepare if they needed to. Thanks for sharing.

The only way I’m having a baby is if me or my partner is very rich and we can afford a night nurse. That’s it.

I mean it’s not just a you decision. Presumably your husband also wanted another kid. Your first baby deserves a sibling to go through this life with too. Not selfish at all. ❤️
