@tnshawnhoney: There seem to be more sightings of great whites off the FL coast this year, anything out of the norm or just another day, before my family starts turning into a chum bucket? 🫪

I go to Destin/ Ft.Walton every summer. I go ankle deep 😂 If you walk down the fishing piers, you'll get a good look at what is close to shore 😂😂 we saw dolphins, sea turtles, sting rays and bull 🦈 sharks ... im not invading their home

Born and raised Floridian and total beach bum here! And yes, totally normal. Pay attention to the flags and be aware of your surroundings while in the water. PC water is normally clear so you can totally see what’s beneath you.

We have them here in NC TOO. They're everywhere, along with bull sharks. The ocean isnt a swimming pool.

Soooo - I go in the water but I am usually strapped around my husbands waist lol. It helps that he is like 6’6 and I am short. My thinking is - the shark will get him and then I can swim away. I mean I love him I truly do but if he wants me in the water that is our deal. He 100% knows why I am on his waist. He accepts this as his fate. lol.

It's normal. Every year we have shark attacks and the water is super warm because this is the hottest year we have had since my 52 years of living here!

They will fly a purple flag for marine life if sharks are close to shore. They are always in the Gulf.

To answer your question... Yes, we know these things. As a Floridian (born and raised)... we locals tend to stay away from the ocean, there are more than sharks in them waters. Rivers, creeks and lakes....stay away from those too. The rule of thumb in Florida is "If you can't see the bottom...STAY OUT OF IT!!" Btw...it is also breeding season🐊🦈🪼
