Definitely a job you really should be refusing to do. You can’t get more non compliant than that, unless it was actually in the pool. Either way, you should definitely be doing a report and having the power shut off until rectified.

I upgraded mains at a house that had a pool in the front yard. The overhead mains were running directly over the pool and I shit you not the hook was hanging on by 1mm
