@holisticnursemom: Postpartum weight loss isn’t just about calories in versus calories out—it’s primarily driven by your shifting hormones. 🧠✨ If you’re breastfeeding, your body is producing high levels of prolactin to keep your milk supply strong. Prolactin naturally encourages your body to hold onto energy stores for safety. When you layer on broken sleep and high-intensity workouts, your cortisol spikes—signaling your nervous system to hold onto stored fat even tighter. When I lost 60 lbs postpartum while nursing, I stopped fighting my biology and started working with it. Here’s how: 1️⃣ Swapped HIIT workouts for low-stress movement (walking, strength training, and pilates) 2️⃣ Kept my nervous system in a parasympathetic state as best as I could 3️⃣ Prioritized whole-food protein and deep hydration Your body isn’t broken or resisting you—it’s just trying to protect both you and your baby 🤍 Send this to a mom friend who needs permission to slow down, and follow along as we navigate the ins and outs of postpartum recovery together 🫂 #postpartumweightloss #breastfeedingmom #postpartumhormones #cortisol #nursingmom
And then there are those girls that lose so much weight while breastfeeding😭

I’m literally hitting 20k steps a day because my baby needs to be aggressively walked to fall asleep for every nap…all I eat is grilled chicken and watermelon and yet I’m GAINING weight! Absolutely insane to me. I knew hormones can affect women s weight but I’ve never experienced it personally until now

Hi! Thank you for this video. I’m T1D and I’ve always heard that the lows were crazy while breastfeeding, which yes they can be, but no one ever explained the insulin resistance that goes with breastfeeding. I take so much more insulin when breastfeeding due to resistance. Thank you for breaking it down🫶🏼

My baby wakes up every 2 hrs sometimes every hour. I don’t have energy for nothing, way less walking. Half of the time I feel like a zombie. Even though I would like to lose weight, I doubt I’d the right time to worry about that

I'm 4 months postpartum. Lost 5kgs the first week only to gain double that 3 weeks later. Cortisol levels are high due to sleep deprivation. I feel like giving up breastfeeding. The weight gain caused my asthma to creep back in my joints r sore. I eat healthy whole foods cut out sweets 2 weeks ago n the scale never moved and I trained....postpartum sucks

Thanks for saying this! I’ve noticed the bounce back culture being so toxic and it made no sense for me to rush to lose any weight while trying to feed my baby. Breastfeeding is a workout too lol 😁
