I'm convinced it's just an ego thing and was with GOT too....if they stick to the source material and its brilliant, wins all the awards etc then people say "oh well yeah it's all G.R.R.M, nothing to do with the writers", plus they actually think (wrongly) they can write better stories than him, so they make all these changes but what actually happens is they mess it up so badly it just leaves us all questioning why they hell they would alter some of the greatest fiction ever written. They didn't have to stick word for word to the books but they should only make changes where it is necessary to make a better product (some things can he shown better in film than in written word) but things like what they have turned Rhaenyras character into in S3 is just ridiculous, they've completely changed her from even the first 2 seasons that they wrote - S1&2 she was strong willed, steadfast, a worthy first queen for the iron throne. S3 - snivelling, pathetic, whining, can't make a decision to save her life and don't get me started on all the Mysaria and Harrenhal nonsense, out of the 8 epsidoes I would say at least 4 of them were unnecessary filler.

Tv shows used to be for storytelling. Building worlds, histories, characters. Now it’s just like watching cardboard people walk in, say their lines and leave. I watch HotD for the music, sets, costumes, armoury, makeup, prosthetics, set designers and everyone else I don’t know about - and sometimes there’s a vague thread of what GRRM wrote that makes this the story of the small folk and that’s what makes it fucking addictive to watch even though we’re all season 8 GOT fans and we’re expecting it to be shit and every ending is shit and sorry -yes I’m still traumatised. Hope this makes sense to someone 😂

I disagree with daemon in tumbleton there’s no need for us to be book purists about it. U need a character u know to be in big fights for u to be invested in. Even ppl who are team green aren’t rooting for ormund so it can’t just be him. So u needed to bring daemon there. It’s in lord of rings and tv u silly do need a big important characters. This video is next-level misunderstanding of the adaptation. Caraxes is there because this is a TV show, and we need a main character involved in the largest set piece of the season; otherwise, the audience isn’t going to have the same emotional stakes involved. Would you have preferred him to be at King’s Landing doing nothing? Helaena was never having “a great time” this season. What in the world? GRRM himself has literally said that Helaena’s death triggers the destruction of magic with the Storming of the Dragonpit.
