@thatostomynurse: Guys, I’ve really been feeling the weight of realizing how many people don’t get the education they need to live with their stomas😣💔 Would you consider reposting to help this reach someone who desperately needs it?🥲🤍 #ostomy #ileostomy #colostomy #urostomy #stoma
Hello, fellow nurse here! I got my ileostomy at the beginning of July. I was doing fine, but after three weeks I started having leaks and skin irritation. I'm struggling a bit. Tried both Coloplast deep and soft convex and now flat, even with barrier ring, but looks like I can't square the circle. I'm trying the barrier paste next, let's hope it works.

mine is slightly protruding probably about an inch and it puckered at the top but flattens out towards the bottom and I always get a slight leak where it flattens out, what can I do for this? I have an ileostomy

Do you have a video or videos on keeping your peristomal skin irritation free? I got my ileostomy about 7 weeks ago and I was doing okay until recently.

I am trying out different things but what is working for me (also a nurse) is covering the loop with the barrier ring and barrier. . I cut to the size of the active stoma and cover the loop.. and pray .I know i shouldnt...please dont tell my surgeon or wocn!

I had constant leaks until I started using a "rigid" convex. I didn't know any different until I saw a stoma nurse 3 months after my ileostomy.
I think every stoma patient should immediately be referred to a stoma nurse after surgery.
Thanks for what you do.

Random but, when do you order your monthly supplies? I’m set for the month but wasn’t sure when people usually place their next order.

This would have saved some headaches. The more mine retracted the more I thought I needed to get flatter and stopped using barriers and convex. (Obviously wrong call)

I have a urostomy and use Convatec moldable 2 piece. I was using Hollister but got tired of having to cut to fit and use the the barrier ring

I started using the convex wafer and it peels at the edges despite using adhesive spray. Any pointers to avoid this?

I’m about to sample a Coloplast petal concave or as you call it a convex flip. I usually wear a Coloplast light convex with a bit of Brava strip paste, that lasts me a week plus. My stoma is budded when quiet but it dances up & down so much it can completely disappear…and I have a hernia as well so I’m trying out the petal shape. I also use disposable bag liners in my black midi closed end bag. Love the black bags!

I have a budded stoma for the most part but the loop part of my loop ileostomy doesn’t stick out much. I was getting leaks until I switched to a deep convex! Love your videos 💕
