It’s called ‘adult swimming’ it’s a watershed law which basically means tv shows that are inappropriate for kids are aired after a specific time. So it’s like ‘don’t let your kids watch, or do cuz we can’t do anything about it’

I think people are trying to make this trend deeper than it is. the point of this trend was pure nostalgia. adult swim did the same where they hid their logo in random scenes.. they called it adult swim bumpers.

AS stands for adult swim and is basically a category of shows that are meant only for adults which air at a certain time period only to prevent kids from watching them. The "Or do because we don't care" part comes because if you let your kids watch them anyways they don't actually care, they put the sign for it being an adult show there because the lawfully have to not because they necessarily want to, so it's an adult TV show pun kinda?

It’s from adult swim (therefore [as]) and I don’t remember what they exactly said but at the beginning of the show when it was broadcasted on live television it was usually bedtime I think and the show wasn’t appropriate for kids so they said something along the lines of “put your kids to sleep. Or don’t. We don’t care” and then [as] would come on screen so the trend was kinda about like don’t do something or do we don’t care and the [as] hope this helps 🥹

Adult Swim was on the same channel as Cartoon Network after around 7pm and it would air shows such as Family Guy, Robot Chicken, American Dad, Rick and Morty etc. They would not only do the whole "dont watch. or do, we don't care" bit for the transition but they would also just show weird and obscure commercials with the [as] symbol which is where a lot of the creativity came from i believe. just search up "adult swim commercials" and yall will understand the vibe.

Same way the tv producers dont care if you let your kids watch adult swim shows, you shouldn’t care about minor inconveniences. “Cry over spilled milk, or don’t, we don’t care.” It could be a trauma from your past or just anything atp.
