Actually, Either Wal-Mart or Walmart is correct as they’ve used both throughout the years. Wal Mart, however has never been official.

A colon would not be appropriate. A colon generally follows a complete independent clause and introduces an explanation, example, or list. Here, Ms. James renames my teacher, so it is an appositive, not information introduced by a colon.

I would say you would not use commas because Ms. James is providing essential information about which teacher you specifically saw at Walmart. Commas are only used with unessential appositives. Instead I’d say I saw Ms. James, my teacher, at the local Walmart. This would work because my teacher is additional information and not essential to understanding who was seen.

Did you know… Walmart’s formal legal name when it incorporated in 1969 was Wal-Mart, Inc. It changed its name to Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in 1970 and kept that name in place until 2018(ish). Now it is Walmart.

We call these “non restrictive elements” through benchmark advance curriculum. Is this the correct correlation? It simply means it’s just extra info we don’t need. If we remove it the sentence still makes sense.
