YES. People want public humiliation and punishment but don’t really care about the real problems at hand.

It’s always punishment and “accountability” but then I’m always left asking “so… what now”

Funny thing I notice is that once accountability is taken, apologies have been given, lessons have been learned… it’s not good enough or genuine enough to the people upholding these punishments

If it were morality Gen Z wouldn’t be hung up on something from over 10 years ago after that person has changed. 100% it’s punishment

Black and white thinking that many GenZ suffer with can also be attributed to the literacy crisis.

This is why I loved the movie The Drama so much. Nobody actually wants "accountability" and nobody cares if whatever you did was years ago and you grew up. They just want to berate you and watch you suffer even though they themselves aren't perfect 💀

They want to be “better than”. It’s a focal point of their identity and purpose in life. Punishment would be nice, but mostly they want a quick and easy way to be superior to their neighbor

Let me vouch for Gen Z and this creator’s point: people starved of accountability and justice will seek it everywhere.

I’ve noticed Gen-Z thinks they can shame people into good behavior. But we have data that shows it pushes people into more extreme corners of the internet and world. It kinda reminds me of Trevor in GTA6 where he says torture is for the torturer. It rarely works and serves mostly to appease and elate the torturer. Being on the internet feels like that. Where people go out of their way to find people to punish and get glee from it because it’s a quick but short lived self esteem boost.

I cant wait for them to enter their 30's. They must either learn to love and accept themselves as imperfect- or they will turn into the oppressors they've been obsessed with all along.
