URGENT APPEAL FROM ETHIOPIAN REFUGEES AND MIGRANTS DETAINED IN LIBYA We, Ethiopian refugees and migrants currently detained in Libya, raise our voices in desperation and hope. We urgently appeal to the international community, the Libyan authorities, humanitarian organizations, and all people of conscience to help save our lives and protect our dignity. Many of us have been detained for months under extremely difficult and inhumane conditions. We are being held in overcrowded detention centers where access to food, clean water, healthcare, and sanitation is severely limited. Many detainees are sick and suffering without adequate medical treatment. Some of us receive only one meal a day, while others are struggling with serious physical and mental health challenges. Women, children, and vulnerable individuals are among those affected. Every day, we face uncertainty, fear, illness, and hardship. We are human beings deserving of protection, dignity, and respect. Today, we urgently call upon: * The Libyan authorities to ensure our safety, protect our fundamental rights, and improve conditions in all detention centers. * The International Organization for Migration (IOM) to expand humanitarian assistance and facilitate the voluntary repatriation of Ethiopian migrants who wish to return home. * The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to provide protection and support for refugees, asylum seekers, and other vulnerable individuals. * The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and other humanitarian organizations to provide immediate medical care, food assistance, clean water, and essential humanitarian support. * The Government of Ethiopia, the African Union, and international partners to work urgently toward safe, voluntary, and dignified solutions for Ethiopian nationals stranded in Libya. We are calling for immediate humanitarian intervention. We need urgent medical care for those who are sick, improved living conditions, adequate food and water, and protection from further suffering. Above all, many of us are pleading for assistance to return safely to our homeland and reunite with our families. No one should be forced to endure these conditions without hope or support. We ask the world not to forget us. We ask for compassion, solidarity, and immediate action. Our lives matter. Our dignity matters. Our future matters. Protect us. Assist us. Help us return home safely.
